Today was like any other day. I started with a new client. This lady made me laugh to myself as she is a type of sitcom character really. A very nice lady but stealth as cat. I was rinsing the shower and accidentally turned the handle the wrong direction and soaked myself. Stepped out to see how bad I was and suddenly she appeared. No sound at all.
I continued cleaning and while I was mopping, imagine my surprise when I lifted my head and there she was again. Now, she does where little slidey type shoes so I would assume she would make some type of noise. She never does. None.
It made me think back to the Seinfeld character that they called "The Sidler". Sidles up without a sound and startles people. I think of that with her.
Someone who, while seemingly sneaky without, I think, meaning to be just made me smile today.
Just thought I would share it. Maybe it will give you a laugh today too.
The Cleaning Lady

This is the beginning, I hope, of a new adventure for me. Blogging. I am, for lack of a better term, a cleaning lady. Mind you, I have been called The Maid, that lady with the sweeper, or sometimes just Hey. That's ok, as long as it is not any worse.
I am actually not here to tell you any novel cleaning tips. No how to clean faster, better, new products, though if I come across any I will be happy to share the information with you. My blog is actually based in the day to day experiences of a "cleaning lady." I am sure many of you can relate, especially if you are in a service based job.
I am blessed with a full schedule right now and I really do appreciate all of my customers and the trust they give to me by allowing me in their home. But some of them are quite colorful, and amusing. As well as kind, good people.
One brisk fall morning I arrived at a home where I had been cleaning for some time and was greeted with "you're a little early, aren't you?" Now, I had been coming like clockwork at 8:30 every time. That set the tone for what was to be my day, I guess. Usually, it is best if the people are out of the house and I can get in, clean, and get out of their way for the day. This particular day, the whole family happened to be home. Oh boy... As I was scrubbing the bathtub, in what was a very small bath, the man of the house decided that this was the time to use that particular sink for brushing his teeth. There are 2 other full baths, but this was the one for him. As I stepped out of the bathroom I was greeted by a small child who wanted to "help" me. I love children, but usually the "help" they give slows the pace significantly. I proceeded to finish what I could and rerouted my routine. These people have two dogs, one being large and the other small. The large one generally follows me around the home and is right with me as I clean. This morning, he and the small one decided they would both follow. Which would of been fine until I bent to sweep and the small one pounced on my back. Meanwhile, the large dog grabbed my swiffer and took off down the hall with it. After retrieving that and trying to get some of my routine back, I was stopped by the woman of the home and asked if I wouldn't mind justdoing a few extras that day. I thought I already had!
This is just one adventure with one customer. I would be happy to share more, as there are many situations I get myself into (well not actually get in by myself ), I have help from my "people". I hope you will come back and read more. Believe me, with myself, my mom and my friend who clean, there are stories to share.
I would love to hear yours as well.
Thanks for coming.
